After Saturdays open leg shake out at Green Mountain Sports cross in Golden where I wore lucky number 13, yes, I am superstitious. Not a great way to open the racing season, especially after my summer bad luck, but hey whateverm it is racing. Lucky number 13 did not haunt me in Golden, it might have made me slowe, but it did not rear its ugly head. Golden was cool, liked the course and it felt good to gets the legs wet so to speak.
It was our first time in Breckenridge and the drive out was really nice, the temps slowly dropped as we headed into the mountains, it was 70 in Boulder and now up in Breck we were seeing 50’s and the weather was starting to look nasty. The course at Breck was solid, i liked it a lot. Pretty technical with some real fast sections and nice long grinder on the final section of the course.
I rode conservative, maybe a bit to conservative until about 3 to go, when things started clicking and my legs felt opened up. Caught a few racers.
The trees are changing up in the high country and the colors are beautiful, we even saw a little snow that came in as the weather changed and turned stormy. Even briefly saw a few hail nugget while I was racing. Racing cross is rad and I really got the stoke back at the end of that race.
Racing is good, legs are coming around, but a lot of work is still needed.

Did the altitude get to you? Base elevation is 9,000 feet there.
Not really, I think that the fact that I have been living at above 5000 FT and I have been heading up into the mountains to ride quite a bit might have helped out a bit. I felt something, but it wasn’t overly noticeable.
