Last summer I wrote about a mystery and acute pain in my shoulder, neck and right arm with slight paralysis, tingling and numbing in both my right arm and some in my legs. I woke up one Monday morning with most of the symptoms above in varying degrees. I thought it was just something like a bad night of sleep, a stiff neck, riding my bike too much, etc. By the end of the Monday I was in more pain and a my right arm was a little more weak.
As the week progressed this all got worse, with pain ranging on a perceived pain scale of close to 10, the worst pain I have ever had. I went to my primary...

Yesterday was Deer Trail Road Race, in the one road town of Deer Trail. The course was interesting to me because it literally heads out to a cone where you make a 180 degree turn like one that would happen in an out and back TT, only this happens 4 times, out to the first cone, turn around, out to the second cone ( different location ) turn-around and repeat one more time for a total of 58 miles. The P/1/2 race had pretty good sized fields, maybe 70 riders? on a tight yellow line road, it was going to be about position and position it was about! Out in the plains, open range the winds were...

Headed out into some white stuff today for some much needed cyclocross bike time. Exploring the trails in and around my homestead in Boulder is heaven, there are just so many options. I headed in a new direction that lead me onto some great single and double track. Nice and slipper and icy, like I like it.
The climbing was long and grinding and the views were great. Even stumbled on a few friends that gave me a 100 lb stare.
A nice day on the bike, not on the trainer and into some cold winter air.

That used to me grabbing my skateboard and my dirty self and skateboarding to the wee hours of the morning. Now it means to me hitting the trails with my skate skis and getting one hell of a workout. From Powell & Peralta to Fischer Carbon RCS Skate Skis, quite the contrast. I am in love with xc skiing especially skate skiing. It is fun to watch an Universal has some World Cup coverage this year. I am a terrible skier, I can muscle it up the hills and get it going on the flats, hits the downhills and it can get ugly real quick.
Boulder has some great resources, when it snows Boulder...

Ok, this winter living in Colorado I have taken up the sport of nordic skiiing, specifically nordic-skating. It all started one snowy day here in Colorado when I had some couch time scheduled and I was flipping through Comcast’s never ending useless amounts of channels when I stopped on Universal Sports Network. The sites was vaguely familar, dudes in spandex, snot and spit coming out of facial orifices, tactical style close racing and hell, one fun and hard looking sport. Yes, the world of World Cup Nordic Skiing. As I glanced out the window at all the snow on the ground, I thought,...

I just picked my first “track” bike. The intention is to not shower, grow a beard, score some girls pencil jeans, pound PBR’s and do lame bunny hops over curbs while perhaps filming it with a HD vid camera. Well, actually no, I decided to try my hand at the Velo — the drome. This new locale that we are in has a indoor velo a few miles from mi casa. Pretty cool, the velo is tight and steep and although I am interested in doing some racing, first I am just pumped to get out there and figure it out a bit.
Not saying you aren’t going to see me riding down Jay...

A I pumped up the tires and got the last few things together a few days ago to head out for ride, the weather was balmy, 70 degrees and just perfect. I was headed up to Ward, Colorado some 25 miles from my house for a total of about 50 miles and 3 hours of riding. The beautiful enticed me to take the ride up to Ward, I say up to ward because it sits 9,540 feet. Ward is a small little, off-the-grid style town and very popular place for cyclists to take a stop as they climb into the mountains. A sort of juxtaposition of lycra clad type a personalities and the off-the-grid lifestyle found...

First, got a new shirt that I screenprinted here at HOWDY. This one is pretty cool. I like the color contrast.
Hit the roads and trails yesterday afternoon for a look at some of the Boulder Open Spaces/parks that exist within a few miles of my house. Found sounds fun off road stuff that is perfect for the cross bike. That smell was in the air, the smell of fall, burning leaves or somewhere a fireplace is a roost. That smell make me become nostalgic, thinking of times when life was easier and less complicated. I rolled around a good bit, got a little wet from an passing storm and just...

Fall is in the air, more ways than one. From the leaves changing, to me, well, literally falling a lot. As the leaves change, the air gets cool I am out there averaging about on fall a week. So to comemerate this fall I have started production of some HOWDY t-shirts. The one seen below or above is a prototype, colors might change a hair, but look for HOWDY stuff to hit the internet in the next few weeks, belt buckles, shirts, some stickers.
Pretty quite this week in Boulder, I think everyone is at INTERBIKE in Vegas and getting ready to throw down HOWDY style at Cross Vegas.
Fall...
