BRC Realty p/b Broadnet

For the 2010 season I am going to race with a team based out of Denver, Colorado – BRC Realty p/b Broadnet. The team seems to be coming along nicely, with a strong group of 10 guys racing in the elite p1/2 and we are looking at the Colorado BAR/BAT as a goal as well as a few national/regional stage races; Gila and Cascade Classic are top of the list. So far, there has been some great riding training going on with the some of the elite guys and few others. Got out for a nice 95 miler, 4hrs 20 minutes with some of the guys on the team and followed that up the next day with a good easy 50...

Trainer and Movie #1

As the winter rolls on here in Boulder and more snow and cold get dumped on us, my only chance to get some training done is to jump on the rollers or trainer. I have taken to the trails for some snowy running, skate skiing, classic xc and some cross bike riding. But still I find the need every now and again to ride the bike indoors. This is usually accompanied by a movie thanks to my friends at HULU.COM. Without them I would be watching the Dark Crystal over and over again. So, I pop over to HULU and see what I can watch, usually I look for something that is the length of my workout, so...

Hello 2010

2009 is in the books and it was very pivotal year in my life, and I think 2010 will be a defining year of my life. It has already started out very interesting with 10 hours on the bike in 3 days, 2 ride at 4 hours, not that it will define my life, but I feel some interesting and potential significant stuff will happen, evolve, present and create for one heck of year. The biggest thing of 2009 was our quick and fast move from the comforts of Philadelphia to Boulder, Colorado. Nothing has really been significant in either mine or Annas life. We have embrassed this move and really have come...

Looking to 2010

Tour of Gila 2007 - Cat 2 In late 2009 Anna and I moved to Colorado, new terrain, new races, new people, lots of new stuff. As I start to look towards 2010 and plan my schedule, mainly looking at the bigger races because as we bike racers know, the local stuff is more or less a gimme when it comes to planning, at least for me. So far the targeted stuff on my schedule is pretty huge, not only in size but excitement factor. Some races I always wanted to do, some I never heard of and some that just look plain rad. For starters, Valley of the Sun in February, flight from Denver are $190 bucks...

A point a view…

As I sit here in my corner of the world, feeling fat and happy with Anna next to me, great food, snacks and wine. I need to talk a little about my Uncle Bob and my Grandma Dot who has Alzheimers. She is 93 and I must say that I have always had a great little connection with her, all grandchildren are connected with their Grandparents and I have different connections with both sets of mine. But Grandma Dot was a bit more distant, not so close so the time we spent was usually in big chunks, a week or 2 at a time when I was a kid. I liked that, it made the time more special, more sacred,...

Nordic = more dork

Ok, this winter living in Colorado I have taken up the sport of nordic skiiing, specifically nordic-skating. It all started one snowy day here in Colorado when I had some couch time scheduled and I was flipping through Comcast’s never ending useless amounts of channels when I stopped on Universal Sports Network. The sites was vaguely familar, dudes in spandex, snot and spit coming out of facial orifices, tactical style close racing and hell, one fun and hard looking sport. Yes, the world of World Cup Nordic Skiing. As I glanced out the window at all the snow on the ground, I thought,...

tick tock, holy crap time moves slow

The weather his week has turned ugly here in Boulder, Co. It went from some nice sunny warm weather to frigid, snow and ice. Not much to do but dust off the old rollers or trainer and try and get some time in on the bike. Time, ouch. It is amazing how I can sit and work designing something, or drawing and boom!, hours go by. Jump on the trainer and it is a constant reminder of how long 10 seconds, 1 minute, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and so on. It moves so slow. Of course everything is based on time, 10 minute warm-up, 20 minute interval, 10 minute cool down, 20 minute interval, 20 minute...

crack crack

Having some issues with my body, out of the blue again I am having some crazy pain and tightness in my shoulders. Went to the doctor today, he was cool. Did a bunch of cracking and yanking, felt good. Heading in for an MRI next week to try and get this figured out. My arms and hands are numb and tingly and it is hitting my legs now. Bit worried, but the doc seems cool. At the least I can get him to prescribe medical marijuana Told me to stick to my usual routine, keep at it, it being life. So, 3 hours out to Carter Lake with 70 minutes at tempo. Sun was setting and the air was...

Steamboat Springs, Very Nice.

This past Thanksgiving was spent in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. A very nice place to spend sometime, the slopes were open, the sun was shining and the vibe was happy and thankful. It was the fist time that Anna and I had been on the slopes in a very long time. Both a bit nervous about what each of us would see from one another, since this was the first time we had been skiing together in our 5+ years together. A lot of trash talking was made on the 2+ hour trip to Steamboat from Boulder. The cards were on the table and we both surprised each other. We rented equipment seeing that both of...

It has been a while, liking riding a bike

It has been 10 years since I stepped into a snowboard and slid downhill. I used to live for it, similar to how I live to ride my bike and race my bike. I fell in love with snowboarding back in the late 80’s shredding the local ice of Vernon Valley ( now Mountain Creek). From Ski Bus at the local to school to hitting up VT with friends on the occasional break or weekend. The 90’s found myself living and riding out west, specifically the Pacific Northwest, calling my home mountain Mt.Hood Meadows. That was the peak, the ultimate in passion. Somewhere I lost the passion for snowboarding,...
