Holy Toledo!

So, day one is in the books, tired. 9 Hours later and we are tucked into a La Quinta with Otts and T ( the cats). They made it too, Otts pooped himself and cried most of the 9 hours but hey, it is done. The town we are in is pretty bad, just outside Toledo. Mini Safari American Car Factory -- empty. South Bend, Indiana

Today we depart on our trip to Boulder, first goal is South Bend, Indiana about 11 hours away. This is a lofty goal because of the cats, they will be joining us on our mission, while I am sure they are excited and all, I know it will be tough on them and also the both of us. This trip has had a few hiccups and I am anxious to get it going, the idea of it has been taxing on me the last few days, the anticipation is killing me. Not sure what to expect in the next few days, not sure what to expect in the next few years. This is the start of truly something new. I have added a photo section...

This is not the end.

Today, I finally got back on the bike. The shoulder is hurting, the remaining meds in my system are still racing around and making me feel bad, but I couldn’t take it anymore. The thing that keeps me grounded needed to do its thing. I fired up the Orbea with foxy and we carved rode white clay for a 1 hr or so. The trails were fast and tacky, a nice contrast to the last time I had ridden here. We rolled away from foxies parents house with both of our intentions of just having fun and letting off some steam. OrbeastThe Orbeast road ok, I think I need some new bars, they are to short,...

Peaceful

I sit here in Newark, Delaware in a big comfy chair with white clay creek park in my backyard, literally right out the back door. I haven’t touched my bike, any bike for 8 days due to a pinched nerve in my neck. I have the itch, the itch to get out there any get my pins moving again. Life is taking over right now and I can’t control that. I hate making gains, progress, training, suffering and then having to let it all slide because of things I can’t control, but hey, I guess that is life. One thing I learned is that with more hard work and focus I will get things back on track...

The Big Move Day

Moving day is here, it started at 7:30 AM as I dragged my bones out of bed and prepared for a long day. Fortunately the US Government is paying for our move and that includes a moving team that packs everything. This move is bigger than we expected and things just seem to keep coming out of every crack and crevice within the 980 sq ft we occupy. Last night I realized that my drivers license was expired,  it has been since April 22,  2009.  Luckily for me  I drive very stealthly. DMVSo,  first thing this morning I trekked down to 8th and Arch Street to experience Philadelphia and its finest...

Winged Scapula Stories

Yea,  the title might sound cool,  like a new species of bird, a fast bike component or a band from the 80’s but it isn’t cool. I really wish that it was one of those things. In fact I would give all the money in the world to make it a positive thing,  something cool.  It is strange how life creeps up at the most innopportune times,  right now that is me. With all the debate in the press and on TV about health care, it is so relevant for myself as I have been shuffled around for almost 2 weeks with no real doctors treatment or opinion.  I am not sure what this system is good for?...

Passion

Passion is good thing in life.  I feel as though I get some what passionate about things,  obsessive might be more like it. This time of my life it is all about cycling, bikes, bikes racing,  5 years of riding and racing,  progressing, platueing and then progressing.  Pushing the body to new height, new pains, new speeds,  whether it is racing a time trial or cleaning a rock garden.  The passion and progression is always there,  I hate when things stagnate, become to familar, that is when I move on.  Philly is great,  I have mastered it,  maybe that is why I am ready to move on.  Looking...

The big clean-out

4 Years of stuff has amassed in our 1000sq ft home in Center City,  today was the day to get it out of here.  From hipsters to oldschoolers and cycling newest have graced my inbox and also my home in hopes of that one score.  From cracked zipp 303’s, fixie city bikes, old busted parts, a workstand and multiple frames have been asked about, emailed, talked about, pawed, poked and prodded.  A few have made out well today. Howdy! Big Move To Colorado from Philadelphia

Saturday, August 15th we are moving to Boulder, Colorado.  Wow,  this crept up fast,  As I sit amongst a pile of stuff, mainly bike parts I am struck by how crazy this move is.  I am excited,  I am nervous and I am sad.  Boulder is a big move for us.  There are a lot of good memories in Philadelphia,  I am hoping that there will be many bold memories of Colorado too.  It hasn’t quite settled into my brain what is going on.  I haev been overly busy dealing with life to even think about what a move like this means. We are set.  We have nice place to live, jobs and not a lot of technical...
