White

Headed out into some white stuff today for some much needed cyclocross bike time. Exploring the trails in and around my homestead in Boulder is heaven, there are just so many options. I headed in a new direction that lead me onto some great single and double track. Nice and slipper and icy, like I like it. The climbing was long and grinding and the views were great. Even stumbled on a few friends that gave me a 100 lb stare. A nice day on the bike, not on the trainer and into some cold winter air.

First Laps – Koppenbergcross

This is a fast and tacky course this year, the start is fast as usual and things get strung out right from the bat. The selections aren’t started until lap 2. It is cool to see how this race is very tactical right from the start. Really no place for a selection made by poor position or a course variable that will force it. A few camera angles have some great shots of the race single file. Just watching these opening laps make my blood pump. 1st Laps – Koppenbergcross, Sven takes over. Click the play button to get going I pulled the video down because is has crashed my server —...

1st Laps – Plzen, Czech Republic

This is a doozy of a first lap, blistering fast. The course is basically flat without much elevation change. The conditions are muddy but tacky, the course is fast! The first lap was so fast that I decided to show 2 laps, because as Stybar launched off the front for lap it was so fast it was hard to follow. Albert had some work to do on the first 2 laps to work his way through the big field. The start was pretty funny as it was a false start. Seems as the UCI officials were messing with the start. Anyhow, enjoy and please discuss the tactics and importance of the first lap. 1st Laps...

Neerpelt Pro Race — Lap 1

Since I missed racing again this weekend,  I decided to spend a lot of time on the computer.  I cut the first lap of the Grote Prijs Neerpelt Elite race.  I think the first lap is rad in any cross race.  A lot of dicing, a lot of power,  a lot of racing. Anyhow,  since I missed what looked like a great race at Interlocken.  It was nice to see Anna’s mom and her sister and I would never trade family for racing,  especially when it is 20 degrees and snowing. More on life, and family visits later,  for now enjoy 7 minutes of racing of lap one of GP Neerpelt 09/21/09. This download...

Wednesday Worlds Boulder – WME

So, this cold morning I suited up for cyclocross workout at the Elks in Boulder, it was the first cross workout i have been to in 3 weeks. Broken finger, some stitches and a few groggy mornings have kept me from getting the cross on. It was dark and cold this morning, I opted for a little less clothing; the first 15 minutes, as I rolled down Jay Road to the course I was cursing up, down and sideways. My 2 busted fingers were even colder, which is weird. They were not having it, and since I couldn’t really move them it made them even more angry and uncooperative. The workout was good,...

A little autumn in Nederland, Co

Headed up to Nederland, Colorado to catch some fall colors and also do a little hiking up to Lost Lake. It is a short hike, took us a total of 2.5 hours with some goofing around up at the lake. It is more like a walk, but beautiful none-the-less. The air was very crisp and there were little pockets of snow around. Took the day off the bike and missed what looked like some fun racing in Frisco, Colorado. A bout with some allergies on Friday night kept me up to the wee-hours of the morning prompting a nice sleep in to try and catch up with what I had lost that night. So, groggy and all allergic...

re(bi)cycled content.

*— This is something that was created a number of years ago, like the concept, might recycle the idea—* As a complete and total bicycle geek I often spend more time on bikes than anything is this world. It is interesting to see how it effects our small, tight culture of cyclists who are very passionate about the sport we particpate in. There are certain things that people just don’t understand. This section we will investigate what this weird and quarky rituals and habits that no one understands except cyclists. Below is a working list of ways that we BicycleNerds standout...

cylco-crossing around boulder

First, got a new shirt that I screenprinted here at HOWDY. This one is pretty cool. I like the color contrast. Hit the roads and trails yesterday afternoon for a look at some of the Boulder Open Spaces/parks that exist within a few miles of my house. Found sounds fun off road stuff that is perfect for the cross bike. That smell was in the air, the smell of fall, burning leaves or somewhere a fireplace is a roost. That smell make me become nostalgic, thinking of times when life was easier and less complicated. I rolled around a good bit, got a little wet from an passing storm and just...

HOWDY FALL – BOULDER

Fall is in the air, more ways than one. From the leaves changing, to me, well, literally falling a lot. As the leaves change, the air gets cool I am out there averaging about on fall a week. So to comemerate this fall I have started production of some HOWDY t-shirts. The one seen below or above is a prototype, colors might change a hair, but look for HOWDY stuff to hit the internet in the next few weeks, belt buckles, shirts, some stickers. Pretty quite this week in Boulder, I think everyone is at INTERBIKE in Vegas and getting ready to throw down HOWDY style at Cross Vegas. Fall...

Weekend Wrap Up — Brecktobercross

After Saturdays open leg shake out at Green Mountain Sports cross in Golden where I wore lucky number 13, yes, I am superstitious. Not a great way to open the racing season, especially after my summer bad luck, but hey whateverm it is racing. Lucky number 13 did not haunt me in Golden, it might have made me slowe, but it did not rear its ugly head. Golden was cool, liked the course and it felt good to gets the legs wet so to speak. It was our first time in Breckenridge and the drive out was really nice, the temps slowly dropped as we headed into the mountains, it was 70 in Boulder and...
